When it comes to screen protector hardness, 4H hardness was publicized when PET was plastic film. At present, the most common publicity of tempered glass is ”9H hardness”. At present, most of them are marked by pencil hardness on the market. This is the key. The glass screen protector with 9H hardness is not 9 of Mohs hardness, but 9H hardness of pencil.
The pencil hardness standard is expressed by H (hardness), B = black, H = hard. The more the number of B, the darker and softer the pencil, the harder the number of H, and the lighter the color. Order of pencil hardness grade: 10B, 9B, 8b, 7b, 6b, 5b, 4b, 3b, 2b, B, Hb, F, h, 2h, 3h, 4h, 5h, 6h, 7h, 8h, 9h, 10h, 10b has the deepest soft ink, h has the shallowest hard ink, and 10h has the shallowest hard ink.
9H actually refers to the hardness of the pencil, not Mohs hardness.
The hardness of ordinary plastic film is usually 2H. After hardening, it can be up to 3H ~ 4H, which is similar to that of nail, which is equivalent to a layer of wax for automobile. Things that can scratch them can be seen everywhere, such as keys, knives, zipper heads, buttons, pen tips… So we don’t recommend you to stick this kind of film again.
The hardness of the current glass screen protector is equivalent to that of glass. As mentioned earlier, as long as it is a glass screen protector, the Mohs hardness will not exceed 7, that is to say, steel can’t scratch the glass (breaking doesn’t count), unless the glass is too inferior. As for the tempered glass screen protector, it only adopts special treatment technology to make it harder and more tenacious, but it is still glass. It is difficult for ordinary people to see the difference when they hold it directly in their hands. The difference can be seen only by actual testing, scratching, scraping and smashing.
